Chocolate Can Be Used to Detect Cancer

CHOCOLATE, sodas, and other sugar-rich foods, it can be used to detect cancer.

Scientists have recently developed a technique that can identify cancer, by tracing how the sugar / glucose is absorbed by the body using MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging).

By adjusting the MRI scanner to look for absorption of glucose, researchers at University College London found that the tumor turned out to shine for imaging, patient after consuming food or sugary drinks.

This breakthrough provides a safer alternative and simpler standards for radioactive techniques, and can increase the life expectancy of cancer patients.

"I would have guessed this. Technique can only be performed if the patient had consumed drinks or sweet foods, such as cola, fruit juice, or cake," said the director of UCL's center for Advanced Biomedical Imaging, Professor Mark Lythgoe, told the page Business Standard.

This method has been tested in several cancer patients and began to show early signs of success.
